Shattered Darkness When the darkness comes, it comes to destroy It comes to engulf and it comes to oppress Slowly and subtly it creeps in to attack Clenching me tightly with it's last attempted strike Holding me in it's vise-like grip I gasp helplessly for breath It tries desperately to squeeze away the remnant of my life Who can save me, who can free me I cry out into the black void of nothingness Then I am shaken as my body feels the power As a loud booming voice explodes out like thunder The voice intensifies as the blackness starts to split And waves of an incredible force shoot through my soul "My name is Jesus and I have the power to set you free For I want you to be with me for all eternity Open up your heart and let me come in And I will save and deliver you from the strongholds of sin Cry out to me and I will heal you of your pain For I can not save you until you call upon my name" Yes Jesus, yes, I need you to set me free I need you to break these binding chains that have enslaved me Please come into my heart and give me a new start Hold me in your loving embrace and please never depart Then in an instant, a blinding, brilliant light consumes my body With a rush of surging power the darkness shatters and scatters around me With no beggining and no end, the blazing light intensifies more and more An overwhelming wind then blew through my soul Falling to my knees I raise my hands high up to the sky I feel a new surge of energy pulsate in my veins As God breathed life into my once dark dead body I am now alive and from the blackness I am free No more in the darkness the had once enslaved me Thank you Jesus Written by Marc Corliss 1993
